The Studio

From the very beginning, I’ve always had my own studio. But each one came with its own set of challenges.

First, there was the Madison studio. I loved that spot—it was a proper production studio with plenty of space. However, it lacked air conditioning. I managed for a while with portable units, but I never got around to installing a permanent system.

Next came the Walnut Grove studio. This space was… uninspiring. It had no personality, no flavor—a complete creativity killer.

Lastly, there was the Brookhaven studio. This one was great but small. Even so, I made it work, and it ended up being my most successful studio to date. I loved being there, and my clients had nothing but positive things to say.

In 2020, when my family decided to buy a new house, I had an idea. While driving around and thinking about all the work (and cost) of getting our old house ready for sale, it hit me—I could turn the old house into my new studio. Now, all I had to do was pitch the idea to my wife. Thankfully, it was an easy sell. She loved the idea and was on board right away.

By October 2020, the Trezevant Studio (TRZ) was officially open.

TRZ has six primary shooting areas: The Speaker Room, The Lounge, The Noire Suite, The Den, and the Red Room. Built in 1939, the studio exudes vintage charm. Its vibe is a seamless blend of retro cool with touches of modern flair, creating a relaxed yet inspiring atmosphere.

The Speaker/HiFi Room

I’m a bit of an audiophile, and this room reflects that passion. It houses most of my vinyl collection and features the iconic speaker wall—a standout piece that might even overshadow my photography in reputation. It’s the perfect space to pour a glass of bourbon, sit back, and let the music transport you to another world.

Bar Noire

What was once an afterthought has become my favorite room in the studio. Originally painted a unique bluish-green, I decided to go bold and paint the walls black, instantly transforming the vibe. I added a bar, a sound system, and a "vintage-look" jukebox that completes the speakeasy atmosphere. The jukebox features a fully functional turntable and is Bluetooth-ready, blending retro charm with modern convenience.

This room, now known as Bar Noire, also houses my CD and book collection. It’s the kind of space where guests love to gather, hang out at the bar, and enjoy great conversation.

The White Room

I love capturing natural light photos in this room—it gets sunlight throughout most of the day, making it a photographer's dream. Originally, I planned to use it as my editing suite, but it felt like a waste of such beautiful, abundant light. Despite the walls being a soft light blue, clients have affectionately nicknamed it “The White Room.”

The Red Room Cigar Lounge

The Red Room is the studio’s ultimate hideaway. Its deep red tones create an instantly striking and moody ambiance, often surprising and delighting new clients when they walk in. During events, I designate this room for cigar smoking since it’s well-distanced from the rest of the studio. Recently, I added a pool table, making it an even more inviting space to unwind and enjoy.

The Movie Room

The Movie Room, also known as The Den, is a blend of natural light and '70s nostalgia. Recently, I upgraded the seating, TV, and most of the sound system to enhance the experience. At its core is a Yamaha 5.2 surround sound system, complemented by an Audio-Technica turntable for vinyl enthusiasts. This room is the heart of studio gatherings and the ideal space for client review sessions, offering both comfort and style.
